The model of Tesla’s energy storage business is that the brand purchases cells from suppliers and assembles them into a complete set of energy storage systems, such as Megapack, an energy storage solution for large-scale industry and commerce, and Powerwall, an energy storage system for homes, of which Megapack contributes about 80% of the revenue for this business. Each Megapack unit can store more than 3.9MWh of energy, which can meet the electricity needs of 3,600 households for one hour.
The Shanghai Energy Storage Factory is Tesla’s first energy storage super factory project outside the United States. Currently, it only plans the Megapack product line with a designed annual production capacity of 40GWh. Fudi’s order corresponds to a supply of more than 8GWh at full production. According to industry prices, the annual order value is about 3.5 billion yuan.
