Another battery company announced that 4680 batteries will soon be put into mass production!
Recently, Tesla battery supplier LG Energy Solution (LGES) provided an update on its 4680 battery project. According to the supplier, the 4680 battery production line at the Ochang plant in South Korea is expected to start mass production at the end of the third quarter or the fourth quarter of 2024.
During LG Energy Solution’s second quarter 2024 conference call, Noh In-hak, director of battery planning and management, said that the company’s 4680 battery production line at the Ochang plant is ready. However, although LGES hopes to start 4680 battery production ahead of schedule, due to internal maintenance and schedule coordination with customers, mass production is expected to start at the end of the third quarter or the fourth quarter as originally planned.
“The new 4680 battery production line at the Ochang plant is ready. We have advanced the schedule for mass production as much as possible, but due to internal maintenance and schedule consultation with customers, we plan to start mass production at the end of the third quarter or the fourth quarter as originally planned,” Noh In-hak said at the conference.
