
BYD plans to launch a new generation of blade batteries in 2025, according to the general manager of BYD’s European Automotive Sales Division in Central Asia during the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29).
The new generation of blade batteries will use lithium iron phosphate technology, aiming to increase the vehicle’s range and extend the battery’s life. The blade battery is a battery product released by BYD on March 29, 2020, and was first installed on the “Han” model. In October this year, it was reported that the U7 will be equipped with a second-generation blade battery, which has a discharge rate of more than 14C and a charge rate of more than 5.5C, showing BYD’s continued progress and innovation in battery technology. It is certain that the energy density, range, charge and discharge power and safety of the second-generation blade battery will be further improved, helping BYD’s further development of new energy vehicles
The launch of the new generation of blade batteries will further consolidate BYD’s technological leadership in the field of new energy vehicles. The blade battery uses lithium iron phosphate material, and safety is one of its important features. At that time, it was known as the first product to pass the needle puncture test, without catching fire or smoking, and it was a complete victory over the ternary lithium battery and ordinary lithium iron phosphate battery.
