This is the first time that Tesla’s Berlin Super Factory has used Chinese-branded batteries, and it is also the first car that Tesla has launched in the European market that uses lithium iron phosphate batteries.
The basic version of Model Y currently exported from China’s Shanghai factory to Europe uses Ningde Times’ lithium iron phosphate batteries, with a battery capacity of 60kWh and a range of 455 kilometers. The main difference between the two is that BYD’s blade battery can be directly installed in the body structure, reducing weight and cost.
Some users shared the measured charging power data of this model. The peak charging power of the blade battery version of Model Y reaches more than 170kW, and it can be charged from 11% to 71% in 15 minutes. Compared with the CATL version, it can be seen that the high-power charging time of the BYD version is longer and the charging power is also higher.
